If Christmas is proof that religion can be commercialized, than surely, Valentine's Day is proof that love can be commercialized. While this is not a particularly astute observation, it can be a source of solace to those who are frustrated at spending the day alone, for you haven't chosen to be single so much as you have chosen to not contribute to the heteronormativity of mass consumerism. This calls, I do believe, for a pat on the back.
